If you haven't been to the beautiful Southern Hills Golf Course in Hot Springs, SD, you should. Well-kept, green as can be; it is a sight to behold. If you come to the Southern Hills Golf Course to race 5000 meters, however, bring your A-Game, because this course is TOUGH. The boy's 5k consists of two equal loops which include the one of the steepest and longest climbs you will on a cross country course.

The boy's individual race was a great match-up between Marc Whirlwind Soldier of Todd County and Andy Coy of Hill City. The two ran side-by-side on the first lap before Coy overtook the talented TC junior on the second lap. Whirlwind Soldier finished in 17:22, 19 seconds behind Coy. Colton Njos, the Belle Fourche 9th grade-wonder was third, in just over 18 minutes.

Newcastle won the boy's team race in a romp.

The girl's race was all Lottie Grimshaw from Todd County. Grimshaw floated the course, running well ahead of the pack the entire race. Jessica Tall, Pine Ridge, raced very well again, coming in the second spot. Bailey Voss, Lead, was third.

The Todd County girls had a strong finish, scoring just 18 points to win.
