HILL CITY RUNNIN’ RANGER CROSS CONTRY
EXPECTATIONS
Attached to this sheet are the general SDHSAA
and Hill City HS rules regarding competition at the high school level. In addition
to these rules, the following are general expectations for Hill City Cross Country athletes.
1.
Display
Great Character
a.
Swearing…yuck,
please don’t.
b.
Support
your teammates…and your competitors
c.
I honestly
don’t care if we are the best of worst team in the USA, but I would like to be the nicest. Treat people great.
d.
Act with
maturity at all times.
2.
Do Your
Best
a.
You will
never be dissatisfied by following this rule. Ever.
b.
Do your
best and you don’t have to make excuses or look back and say, “What if…”
3.
Be Here
a.
Don’t
miss practice.
b.
Be on
time.
c.
Get your
game face on when necessary.
4.
Work
Hard in School
a.
Simply
work hard in school.
b.
Turn
in your work.
c.
Try to
get smiley faces on your papers (aka, good grades!)
5.
COMMUNICATE
WITH YOUR COACHES
a.
Let me
know if you are Run-Down. I’d rather have you slightly undertrained and
in “Eye of the Tiger Mode” than so worn down to where running isn’t fun.
b.
If you
have to miss a practice, I have to know BEFOREHAND. Thanks.
c.
When
in doubt, ask!
6.
For the
multiple sport athletes
a.
What
a task you are embarking on! I respect your dedication
b.
In order
to compete in a meet you will need to practice TWICE in that week.
c.
Contact
COACH COY to learn what you will need to do at those two practices to earn a chance to compete for the Runnin’ Rangers. Everyone’s training needs are a little different, so make sure you contact me
in regards to what you will need to do. \
7.
Coach’s
Discretion
a.
Obviously
all expectations/rules can’t be listed. Trust that I will make the best
choice for each individually and to a greater extent, the TEAM.
I am as excited as ever this season. You guys and gals are going to be GREAT!
