The Hill City Ranger Cross Country team had their first race at the Douglas Early Bird last Friday the 23rd.
No team points were kept at the meet, however each of the Running Rangers that competed in the meet had super performances
despite the heavy downpour of rain which knocked the girls race short and continued into the boy's race.
The Douglas meet featured the five area AA schools as well as Bismark Century from North Dakota. The competition
in the boy's race was stiff on the individual level, with several AA, A and B placers from last year's state meet in the race.
With sickness keeping a few Rangers out of the meet, the boys ran four runners: Andy Coy (4th), Hudson Koel (12th), Clint
Lewis (15th) and Josh Robison (28th). Each of these guys ran nicely executed, tough races for their 2007 opening
meet.
The Rangers will continue to train for upcoming meets, putting in training miles on the track, trails and roads
of Hill City.
Up next for the Rangers is the Red Cloud Invitional beginning at 3:00 on Thursday.
