The Ranger Boys XC team faced their toughest challenge of the year at the Rapid City Elks Invitational last Friday.
Hill City was the smallest school at the meet, yet competed well, placing 8th among the varsity teams. Over 700 runners
competed at the Elks Invitational this year in Varsity, JV and middle school races.
The boy's side of the team race included Bismark, who has won the last two North Dakota large school state cross country

which includes North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri and Kansas. Also in the boy's field
were last years #1 and #2 Class 4A Wyoming teams, Cheyenne Central and Campbell County. Campbell County is an Honorable
Mention on the Dyestat Southwest Region list. Colorado was also represented at the meet by Roosevelt-Johnstown.
Andy Coy ran his best race of the year, finishing in 8th place in the highly competitive boys individual race.
Andy went 16:16 for the 5k course, an average of 5:14 per mile. Hudson Koel was the next Ranger in line, finishing in
29th place, running 17:24. Clint Lewis (18:10, 52nd), John Bintliff (18:29, 61st) and Andy Quenzer (19:07, 74th) closed
