Hill City junior Andy Coy was invited to participate in the Dakota Elite Challenge Friday in Fargo, ND. To eligible for the
meet, athletes must have finished the year ranked in the top nine in their respective events for their state, regardless of
which class they competed in during the season.
Coy was invited to compete in the 800 meter run and won the event, finishing in the winning time of 1:55.50. Coy beat
last week's Class A 800 meter champion Alex Muntefering from Parkston, who was second place in the event, clocking in at 1:58.24.
Coy's time of 1:55.50 (FAT) smashes his own school record of 1:57.0 and ranks him near the Top 10 All Time (10th is John
Kehoe of Rapid City Central High School- and a USD Coyote- at 1:55.09) for South Dakota High School Boy's 800 meter runners.
