Boys 800 meter run:
Sophomore Andy Coy and junior Hudson Koel pick up third and fourth place finishes in the 800 meter
run. The 800 featured the deepest, most talented 800 field in recent state meet history. Koel set an early pace
for the field and led through about 500 meters. Coy was about 3 seconds off the leaders going into the final 200
meters, yet finished just .46 from winning the race. Just a junior, this was Koel's first individual state
track meet medal. Excellent race guys!!!!

Girls 1600 meters:
8th grader Stephanie Qualm ran a gutsy race in the 1600 meters. Qualm was sick throughout the week
and friday's 4x800 took a lot out of Stephanie's tank. However, Stephanie still ran strong, finishing 13th in the girls
race. Excellent, Stephanie!

Boys 1600 meters:
Hudson Koel ran his smartest and fasted 1600 meter run of the year, finishing with the bronze medal
in the 1600 with a personal best time of 4:34.21. Koel gradually made a move on the field after a fast opening lap left
many of the early leaders struggling at the midway point. Koel moved into second place for nearly all of the last lap,
and nearly held on for a silver medal. Great race Hudson!

Boys 400 meter dash:
Andy Coy placed 6th in this year's 400 meter finals. Coy ran with
a lot of heart in the race, but was clearly fatigued from friday's 400/800 double, the toughest in track and field (Coy
ran 50.89 and 1:57.30 all within a little less than 80 minutes). Coy, a sophomore, has now placed two consecutive years
in the 400 meters. Gutsy performance, Andy!
