Several South Dakota athletes slated to run @ the NAIA National XC Meet today

MEN'S RACE

The NAIA Men's race features DAC Champion Black Hills State, who is led by Jed Morgan, K.C. Fiedler, Laine Parish, Neil Long and former Todd County State Champion, Marc Whirlwind Soldier and Wessington Springs grad Mitch Kraft.  Whirlwind Soldier and Kraft have run really well for freshman, and the National Meet experience will surely motivate them for the rest of their rookie seasons.

Black Hills State won the DAC XC Championships over Dakota State, who is bringing three individual qualifiers in Devon Berkness, Matt Fideler and Andy Coy.  All three of these guys are former South Dakota High School runners: Berkness at Madison HS, Fideler at Sioux Valley and Coy at Hill City.  Berkness has seen the biggest turn-around from a virtual unknown at the high school level to a serious All-American threat for Dakota State.

The Brockmueller brothers, Billy and Bobby have had exceptional cross country seasons for true freshman.   Bobby ran 26:01 and Billy 26:08 at the Great Plains Regional to make the big dance for Sioux Falls.

Results from the meet can be found at: www.naia.org

WOMEN'S RACE
Scott Walkinshaw not only had his mens team ready to roll, but his women's team showed their fitness as well, winning the conference meet by 43 points over Jamestown College.  Erin Curran, the DAC Individual champion, leads the Yellow Jackets, who do have a South Dakota girl on their squad, Courtney Dickson of Huron High School.

Stephanie Warnke is the lone individual qualifier from the DAC.  Warnke ran at South Central High School and is from Fairfax, SD.

Jessica Hudelson and Lydia Ford, two South Dakota runners from Elk-Point and Vermillion, respectively, qualfied for the National Meet under the direction of Dave Nash at Morningside College.
