TRAINING TOOLS
Some of these are Matt Tegencamp's videos (12:58 5k this past summer) others are some Runner's World videos that the
Mammouth Track Club uses.
Quick and easy way to find Dr. Jack Daniels' intensity levels; adapted from Daniels' Running Formula.
Greg McMillan, who coaches the McMillan Elite Distance group in Flagstaff, AZ has a pretty great resource with his website.
I like the training pace calculator page. Simply type in your CURRENT (not imaginary) race marks and find appropriate
paces for different types of workouts. McMillans charts are nice because they give the reader a nice RANGE to try to
hit for certain workouts instead of a solid number. The RECOVERY INTENSITIES from McMillan's
calculator are a great basis for runners wondering "How fast is fast enough" on recovery runs. Cool
resource.

This website is truly miraculous for those who can't afford a high-priced GPS watch. Simply map your daily route
and SHAZZAM!...you get an accuarate distance. Eleven thumbs up.
After you run a blazing race you can come back and check your pace per mile...better yet, use the tool before you race
to determine what pace per mile will lead you to your goal time. Useful. Daily.
Okay, this site (which I recommend just looking through for an hour or so) was put together just after Al Gore invented
the internet. Total track nerd stuff, but it's great! The prediction calculator is pretty old school, as you will
see, but it's great. It gives you all of the "prediction" charts like Purdy, the hungarian charts, etc. I like
it because it gives you something to shoot for in the longer distances.
This is a great site for putting the extra touches on your training. You can only run so much in a given day, week,
year, lifetime. Most of us can afford to run more, true, but here are some strengthening exercises that will allow you
to do just that. Check it out for yourself- watch the simple demonstration videos and then download the PDF's with the
workouts listed.
This link will take you to the VIDEOS, ARTICLES AND WEBSITES page on the Heart of the Hills Running Club website.
Lots of cool content. Check out the SEBASTION COE, BORN TO RUN videos.

Yes, it's true, your fingers can now run a marathon. I have been to mile 5 and then cramped up pretty bad; low
electrolytes I think. Next time I will take my GU. But try the game in a progressive manner as you would in training,
or you will find yourself on the IR.
